Stray Kat Gallery was formed on the premise that some of the finest contemporary artists in New York City can be found selling their works from the alleyways of the Meatpacking District to mobile pop ups on the Upper Eastside; in Battery, Union, and Central parks. As a result, the Stray Kat team has been able to reach the full range of art enthusiasts from exclusive private collectors to museum curators; from art critics to art dealers; from those just looking to those making their first art purchase. Taking a look at the collection of works that Stray Kat gallery handles both privately and publicly, has changed the perception of how art can be discovered and valued.
The gallery program is dedicated to showcasing distinctive and independent career artists from the world over. In 2011, private viewings were available to selected collectors around the globe. In May 2012, Stray Kat Gallery made it's debut at 88 Tenth ave as the only art gallery in New York's Chelsea Market, underneath the the High Line. The success of the gallery's first exhibition in the 4,000 square foot space, led to a year long run in the Chelsea Market, where they received enormous exposure to international collectors and dealers, as well as art lovers from all walks of life. On November 21 2013, Stray Kat Gallery opened as the pioneers of the Meatpacking District, in an abandoned auto detailing garage, in the MILK Building at the High Line .
Art Gallery Openings, concerts including Rob Fusari, former Lady Gaga producer, and fashion shows were on constant rotation. SKG's artists, Stella Michaels, and Zane Fix, were showcased monthly, as featured guest artists were chosen for rotational exhibits. Later that year, in June of 2014, Stray Kat's voyage continued into an 8,000 square foot space @ 450 W14th st. Featuring the works of Ms. Michaels and Mr. Fix, the gallery kept a steady flow of concurrent exhibitions including a wide variety of painters, printmakers and photographers.
